Owensboro Fire Department Responds to Two Apartment Fires Overnight; No Injuries
Owensboro Fire Department crews faced a demanding stretch early Tuesday morning, responding to two separate apartment fires about an hour apart. In both incidents, firefighters contained the flames quickly and no injuries were reported, according to multiple local outlets.
First Incident – West 4th Street
The first dispatch occurred at 12:27 a.m. in the 1600 block of West 4th Street after a fire alarm activation. When crews arrived, they encountered smoke in a first-floor hallway.
Firefighters from Engine 3 located the source in the kitchen of a unit and extinguished it before it could extend beyond the apartment. Reports indicate the damage was confined primarily to the cooking area, a result of rapid interior operations.
Second Incident – Placid Place
Roughly an hour later, at 1:31 a.m., crews were sent to the 3600 block of Placid Place for a structure fire. Engine 5 reported visible smoke from a two-story complex on arrival.
Firefighters forced entry to the affected residence and initiated an aggressive interior attack. The fire was knocked down quickly, limiting damage and preventing spread to neighboring units.
